Rosemary Brown, M.ED., Registered Clinical Counselor

Rosemary Brown, M.ED., Registered Clinical Counselor [top]

Rosemary joined the Surrey Hospice Society staff in March, 2008 from Nanaimo Hospice. Her passion for the philosophy began in Victoria when she volunteered at the Hospice Residence there. At that time, she was the Executive Director of Victoria’s Options Pregnancy Centre when she realized that her volunteer days were more rewarding than her work days!

In the past, Rosemary worked as a school counsellor and English teacher. She earned her Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria in 2000 and decided to take the community route rather than educational route from then on.

Her work at Surrey Hospice Society consists mostly of Bereavement Counselling, facilitating adult grief support groups and overseeing other adult grief support services and programs. She is also available to visit with patients and families in the Palliative programs.

She and her husband Terry have two married daughters and three grandchildren under age 4 whose special needs pulled Nana and Papa from the Island to settle here on the mainland. Rosemary has a limited private counselling practice in her non-Hospice time and also enjoys gardening, church activities, aquafit, and walking.

Donna Chubb, Thrift Store Manager

Donna Chubb, Thrift Store Manager [top]

Donna has been the Manager of the Thrift Store since April 2005. Her vast experience in the retail sector and her volunteer work in the community was a good fit for the store. Her past experience with several different retailers has given her a wide range of experiences and knowledge.

At the time of her employment Donna was attending Douglas College, and graduated in June 2006 with her Diploma in Community Social Work.

The skills and learning practices she developed while attending college has proven to be very useful with the diverse clientele that supports the store. Her easy and light hearted manner is appreciated by the volunteers whom she supports and encourages to step out of their comfort zone and try something new, as well as to have fun and enjoy the task they are doing.
