Surrey Hospice Society Thanks All Our Contributors
to our new Resource and Support Centre

After 2 years of planning, sketching, creating, fundraising, and finally building, we celebrated the Grand Opening of the Surrey Hospice Society Resource and Support Centre on Tuesday, September 16th.

We have so many people to thank for their hard work, encouragement, participation, generous donations, and wonderful support. Our space has grown from 1500 square feet to 3300 square feet. Our counselors have private offices, our children and youth have their own beautiful room, families can come in together for grief support in the Family Meeting Room. Our Board of Directors has a large Boardroom to meet and strategize future plans and programs that will benefit the Community. Everything has been donated. Whatever was purchased, the money was there – donated by generous individuals or companies.

Our special thanks to Rick McDiarmid, well known Western Canadian artist, presently residing in South Surrey. Rick created a spectacular portrayal of the story ‘Freddie the Leaf’. It is the story of life and it’s seasons, and will be enjoyed by all who enter our Children and Teen room.

We are also grateful for the generosity and partnership of those who made this expansion possible. We thank Mrs. Zarine Virani (owner of Newton Regency Care Home), The Rotary Club of Surrey, Ronald McDonald House Charities, B & B Contracting Ltd., Ocean Park Developments Ltd., The Surrey Guildford Rotary Club, Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem, United Home Builders, Soroptimists International of Surrey/Delta, Surrey Foundation and the Paul Janzen family. There were also donors who wanted to remain anonymous, yet played a part to see that the work of Hospice continues and expands.
