The Surrey Hospice Society, in anticipation of its spring Annual General Meeting, is inviting expressions of interest from members of the Surrey community who have a passion for Hospice Care and recognize the vital contribution the Society has made for the last 25 years. We are seeking energetic individuals from varied backgrounds who feel they can contribute their time and abilities as new Board members in support of the Society and its full time Executive Director. 

Community Growth Fund from HYDRECS

Surrey Hospice Society would like to thank HYDRECS and the BC Hydro employees who so generously donate a portion of their pay cheques to charitites through this funding initiative.

We applied for a grant from the Community Growth Fund to replace a few of the aging computers in our office and HYDRECS generously granted our request. Thank you for your support!

Shred-a-Thon Update!

Teena Love, General Manager of the Amenida Surrey Seniors Community presents a cheque in the amount of $1502.48 to  Executive Director, Jacqueline Hewitt of the Surrey Hospice Society, for funds raised during their Shred-a-Thon.

On Saturday September 10, 2011 the Amenida Surrey Seniors Community held a Shred-a-thon to benefit the Surrey Hospice Society.

The event was well attended by the residents of Surrey who brought bags, boxes and trunks full of documents and paper to be shredded securely by Super Save Shredding. Super Save even offered certificates of Destruction for those who required it. There was a BBQ, prizes and fun to be had by all. A very successful event!

Remembering Captain Cal McKibbon

Our sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Captain Cal McKibbon, Surrey Firefighters Local 1271.

Cpt. McKibbon succumbed to his injuries sustained from a tragic parachuting accident on Thursday, August 18th, 2011 in Washington State. He was a 26 year veteran of the Surrey Fire Department and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society has been long time partner and supporter of the Surrey Hospice Society. Our hearts go out to you all at this difficult time.

Roger Rivard presents a generous cheque to Jacqueline Hewitt, Executive Director of Surrey Hospice Society in memory of his wife Florence who died August 28, 2010.

The donation represented proceeds from a golf tournament on July 9, 2011 in Kelowna BC, organized by Rivard’s brother Ed.  Thank you Rivard family!
