Hospice & Pallative Care

Living fully with dignity and comfort

Hospice & palliative care is about more than medical support. It’s about bringing peace, compassion, and connection to individuals facing life-threatening illness, and to the families who love them. Our role is to provide practical, emotional, and spiritual support—helping people live fully, with dignity and comfort, to the very end of life.

One-to-One Client Support

Our trained volunteers provide companionship and support to individuals with life-limiting illness. Whether at home, in hospital, or in a care facility, our volunteers offer a steady presence, helping clients navigate the journey with compassion.

One-to-One Family Support

We also walk alongside families—whether by birth or by choice—offering emotional and practical help as they care for their loved one. Volunteers provide information, encouragement, and listening ears when it’s needed most.

Residence Visiting

Our volunteers visit daily at Surrey Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care and Tertiary Units, as well as at Laurel Place Residence. We provide companionship for patients and families providing warmth and compassion during difficult times.

Respite Services

Caring for a loved one can be overwhelming. Volunteers step in to give caregivers a short break—whether that means time for errands, a walk, or simply rest. Supporting caregivers means they can better care for their loved one.

Keeping Connected: Telephone Support

Our telephone volunteers check in regularly with caregivers, offering compassion, reassurance, and a listening ear. These conversations create space to share worries, challenges, and moments of hope.

Referral Services

When additional specialized programs are needed, our coordinators help connect families with other palliative services in the community, ensuring that no one has to navigate the system alone.

What We Do (and What We Don’t)

We work closely with Fraser Health – Provincial Health Services Authority, but we are not involved in housing or medical care. Our role is to complement the medical system by providing emotional, practical, and companionship support. Our volunteers are there to bring presence, comfort, and dignity.

You don't have to face this journey alone
